Classroom Elf

It's time to start planning and organizing how you are going to use the special delivery straight from The North Pole. Our classroom elf is a yearly tradition. My second graders love Frank and the fun tricks and special memories made.

To begin the planning of this fun classroom management idea, I prepare the parent donation envelopes. I place the note inside the envelope and place the labels and include the child's name on the outside. These envelopes go home along with an email letting the parents know what you are planning and that you are encouraging all able parents to donate $5 towards the classroom elf presents.

Beginning on December 1st our elf is delivered along with a letter, a book and a special gift. The letter explains that Santa sends the classroom elf each day in December to watch the children and to report back each night on the student's behavior. If Santa is impressed by the report, Santa sends back a special present with Frank each day. We keep the present under the tree each day and I watch for a very responsible and respectful student to open the present during our morning meeting each day. Then the present is an encouragement for my students to make great choices throughout the day. If they do this, they will get to take home a part of the special present sent from Santa every day at school in December.

This is a great classroom management idea and tool. It keeps your students motivated and encouraged to follow the rules and it reminds them that Santa is always watching!
